Best Lotion for Dry Face

There are so many things that can cause the skin on our faces to become dry. It can be the elements such as heat in the summer as you sunbathe and sharp, cold winds in the winter. All of this can cause your facial skin to dry out and it can bring on early signs of aging like wrinkles, especially around the corners of the eyes. If you find that you have dry skin on your face, you need to find a good moisturizer. Just keep in mind that there are moisturizers which can increase the dryness of your face and those which can make skin oily. Therefore, you need to find a moisturizer or lotion for your dry face with the perfect kind of balance. If you happen to have extremely dry skin, then you need a moisturizer with a high content of oil. If the skin is dry but not extremely dry, then your moisturizer should be light, all-purpose and it should have a water base. When washing your face before the application of a moisturizing lotion, you should also use mild soap and there are many to choose from among them are also soaps with crème lotions in them.

It’s advisable to find out if the dryness of the skin on your face is all over or just in certain areas. There are a lot of people who find that they have combination skin. This means that they may find that the areas of the nose, middle forehead and chin are oily. Still others find that they have dry, flaky skin everywhere on their face. The combination skin types should use a lotion which is meant for combination type skin and apply it only to the dry places. For those with dry flaky skin all over the face, a heavier lotion should be used for moisturizing the skin.

Lotions for moisturization should include glycerin, dimethicone, hyaluronic acid and there should be 20% of urea in extreme dry skin cases. A combination of these will keep the skin more supple and moist. If you want to keep your skin from reacting to perfumes or other additives, you should use a hypoallergenic moisturizer because if your skin reacts to a certain product it can become very dry, flaky and irritated.

You may want to consider using a natural moisturizer such as olive oil as this will not clog your pores. Just before you go to bed, you should apply olive oil to clean skin and if you prefer you can mix it up with a small bit of hypoallergenic lotion. Another great thing that you can apply to your face at night is plain and simple Vaseline. It will moisturize your skin and make it smooth as your skin soaks it up while you sleep. If you prefer readymade lotions which moisturize dry skin on the face choose those which have been dermatologist tested.
