How to Relieve Stress?

Everyone face stress at some point during the time in the office. The working environment of the workplace can sometimes be very punishing for many people. It result in high absenteeism rate, poor health among employees and more conflicts between individuals.

Causes of work- related stress

There are many factors that can lead to high stress. Below are some of the most common causes:

  • Excessively high workloads –Too much work with very tight deadlines can make a person feel rushed, under pressure and overwhelmed.
  • Insufficient workloads – When you are reduced to doing something instead of the thing that you spent time training in, it will make you feel that their skills are being underused.
  • Isolated work – When there is little or none support from the coworkers, you may feel stressed from working in isolation.
  • Doing something – you are being asked to do something new when you have no experience or training
  • Office politics – you will feel stressed when you are being blamed now and then instead of letting you to do your job.
  • Lousy management – Weak or ineffective management which make you feel there is no sense of direction for the company.

All these causes can make you weaker in mental health and eventually you will suffer from burnout or poor health.

Ways to relieve stress

There are many ways to relieve stress from your everyday work. Below are some of the ways,

Play Games- Nowadays there are many social games available online that take less than 15 minutes such as Sudoku and Angry Birds mobile. Try them and you find that you are more relaxed after a short session.

Take short break – A short 10mins break can do a lot to make you relax.

Does something else – If you are struck in a particular task, try doing something else. You then can look the problem with clear of mind and may even have a new view of the problem.

Let it go –A lot of the problems that cause endless stress are actually not that important. By prioritizing you problems you could actually reduce stress to a greater extent. Remember, there are things in life that you can't control. If you let yourself to take life a bit less seriously, you will have much lesser stress in your life.
